Last full day in Ljubljana, Slovenia

Today was the day most of the students were looking forward to, the tour of Pivovarna Union Brewery. The day started off relatively late compared to other days. We were to meet on the bus at 9:45am. Then we headed to the brewery which was just a few blocks away from our hotel. The tour started off with a short video of the different products Union produces. They obviously produce Union beer as well as Zala water and Za flavor waters. After the video we proceeded to the museum, where our tour guide Sanya explained the history of Union Brewery. Then we were able to view the actual plant starting with the cooking of the beer, then to the filtration, bottling and packaging. Here is a photo of the bottling.

The warehouse for the beer is very large and can house up to 150,000 pallets of beer. Each pallet has 63 cases of beer on it with each case having 24 beers in it. That makes for a lot of beer. Below is a pallet of beer wrapped and ready for shipping.

After completing the tour of the plant we were then invited to sample all the products offered by Union along with some meats, cheese and bread to snack on. Here is a video of everyone at the tables enjoying the beer and food.

After the Union tour we headed back to our hotel for a short break for time to relax and pack our things. Tomorrow we leave at 7:30am for Vienna, Austria. This afternoon we went to the School of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. The Dean of the School of Economics told us a lot about what the University has to offer for graduate programs. There were several students there to answer questions as well. I have come to the conclusion that I would love to get a Master’s in International Business from the University of Ljubljana.
